A tentative full-year time schedule for teachers new to Chemistry 12. Although the time schedule will have to be modified for the situation of individual teachers, the timetable will give a good starting point for time management.

A student handout giving an overview of Chem 12 and its expectations, comments on tests, marks, work habits, letter grades, policy on missed tests, lab report policy, mathematics requirements, availability of extra help and policy on cheating. This document must be modified to conform to individual teacher, school and district policies.

Equilibrium Minilab.doc
An analytical proof that the reaction Fe3+ + SCN →  FeSCN2+ is an equilibrium. A “quick-and-dirty” lab exercise taking only a few minutes.

Equilibrium Titration.doc
Use of titration methods to find the equilibrium constant for the reaction
Ag+ + Fe2+ ↔  Ag(s) + Fe3+

Factors Affec Rx Rate.doc
Students examine the effect of temperature change, concentration change, the nature of the reactant, change in surface area, addition of a catalyst and addition of an inhibitor.

Factors Affect Equilm.doc
Students examine: the effect of acidity changes on bromthymol blue solutions; the effect of pressure on dissolved gas concentration; the effect of concentration changes on equilibria involving copper(II) complexes; the effect of temperature on equilibria involving cobalt complexes; the effect of ion concentration on the solubility of a salt; the effect of relative solubility on precipitate formation

Ksp of CA(OH)2.doc - NEW 2009

Molar Mass Titration.doc
Samples of unknown monoprotic acid solutions are titrated to find the molar mass of the unknown.

pH Meter Titration.doc
A pH meter is used to produce pH-versus-volume graphs for the titration of hydrochloric acid, acetic acid, phosphoric acid and a cola beverage with sodium hydroxide. Students are required to extract acid molarities and Ka values from the graphs.

Qualitative Analysis.doc
Gives a qualitative procedure for analyzing solutions contain all or some of Ag+, , Al3+, Fe3+, Ni2+ and Zn2+. Highly detailed instructions give excellent results.
