Welcome to the Spread the Net Student Challenge!
Last year, thanks to students like you who participated in
fundraising at schools and campuses across the country, more than
$300,000 was raised for the purchase and distribution of 30,000
long-lasting insecticide-treated bed nets to children in Liberia and
Rwanda, helping to combat malaria!
This year we are calling on high schools, colleges and universities
across Canada to take up the challenge with a goal of raising enough
money between September 10th, 2008 and March 1st, 2009 for 40,000
bed nets! It’s as simple as trading off a few music downloads or a
trip to the movies or choosing to save lives.
So please join Spread the Net and UNICEF Canada in the fight to
eradicate malaria!
Check out a
clip from The Rick Mercer Report at Dalhousie University – last
year’s winner raising more then $17,000!

We live in one of the most natural resource-rich areas in the world; despite this, it can be difficult to bring the outdoors into the classroom. If you would like to introduce practical science applications to your students, invite UBC Forestry to your school. Young, enthusiastic alumni conduct presentations that include topics in ecology, wildlife biology, fire management, entomology (the Mountain Pine Beetle infestation), and wood science, as well as different career paths related to environmental science, and information on the various programs UBC Forestry offers.
Please contact the Student Services Department at 604-822-1834 or forest.info@ubc.ca to book your presentation now!
